Loose Tube Stranded Non-Metallic Strength Member Unarmored Optical Cable (GYFTA)

The GYFTA optical cable consists of 250µm fibers placed into loose tubes made of high-modulus material, with the tubes filled with water-blocking compound. The center of the cable core is a non-metallic strength member (FRP); for certain fiber counts, a layer of polyethylene (PE) is extruded over the strength member. The loose tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the central strength member into a compact and circular cable core, with water-blocking filling in the interstices. The core is wrapped with aluminum-plastic laminated tape (APL) and finished with an extruded polyethylene jacket.
