Fiber Pigtails

A fiber pigtail provides the transition between the backbone optical cable and patch cords, and is the core component of the splice-and-patch process for fiber links in equipment rooms. Single-mode pigtails use OS2 9/125 μm fiber, suited to long-distance transmission (1310 nm/1550 nm wavelengths). Mainstream multi-mode pigtails are OM3 50/125 μm (supporting 10 Gbps) and OM4 50/125 μm (supporting 40G/100G). Common connector types include LC, SC, ST and FC. Standard lengths of 0.5 m, 1 m and 2 m are available, and armored versions are also offered.
