LC SM 9/125μm to LC OM1 62.5/125μm single-mode/multi-mode mode conditioning patch cord Standard and custom mode conditioning patch cords (MCP) for 62.5/125 and 50/125 fibers, suitable for 1000BASE-LX/LH and 10GBASE-LRM optical transceivers transmitting in the 1300nm window, and applied to multi-mode equipment. Launching single-mode laser light into the center of a multi-mode fiber generates multiple signals that confuse the optical transceiver at the other end of the link. These multiple signals, caused by the differential mode delay (DMD) effect, severely limit the fiber distance for running Gigabit Ethernet. Mode conditioning patch cords eliminate these multiple signals by allowing the single-mode launch to be offset from the center of the multi-mode fiber.
