Paired with trunk cables, it enables a seamless data rate upgrade transition in data center multimode systems. Primarily used for in-rack connections, it is a cost-effective solution that eliminates field termination, and is suitable for high-density cabling with limited space and demanding cable management requirements. OM5 patch cables comply with OM3/OM4 specifications with additional Differential Mode Delay (DMD) requirements to compensate for dispersion, and offer extra bandwidth characteristics at the 953nm wavelength, supporting SWDM over longer distances. They are particularly suited to data centers that require rapid infrastructure deployment while maintaining system bandwidth.
